Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@threeseascharters.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Three Seas Charters is a captain-guided wake boat charter service based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We operate premium wake boats — including a Malibu 24MXZ, Tige Z3, and Moomba Mojo — across North Texas and Oklahoma lakes, with a focus on wakesurfing, tubing, and full-day on-water experiences. Every charter is captain-included. We are not a self-drive rental company.

We're a mobile charter service — we come to you. We operate on multiple lakes across the DFW area and Oklahoma region, including Lake Lewisville, Lake Grapevine, Lake Texoma, Possum Kingdom Lake, Broken Bow Lake, Lake Ray Roberts, and Lake Murray. There's no single storefront to visit. When you book, we'll confirm your launch location and send directions.

Yes. Three Seas Charters is a fully licensed, commercially insured charter operation. All of our captains are experienced, safety-focused, and familiar with the waters they operate on. Safety is a non-negotiable part of every charter we run.

For summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day), we recommend booking at least 3–4 weeks out. Popular dates — especially Saturdays in June and July — can fill a month or more ahead. Spring and fall weekends have more flexibility. Weekday charters are typically available on shorter notice. If you have a specific date in mind, the sooner you reach out the better.

Every charter includes the boat, captain, fuel, wakesurf boards, towable tubes, and a floating island. Life jackets are included for all guests. You bring food, drinks, sunscreen, and your group. There are no surprise gear rental fees or fuel charges at the end of the day.

Yes — wakesurf boards are included on every charter at no additional cost. We carry boards for all skill levels, from beginner-friendly shapes to performance boards for experienced surfers. Towable tubes and a floating island are also included.

Yes. Coast Guard-approved life jackets are provided for all guests on every charter. Children's life jackets in appropriate sizes are available — just let us know the ages and approximate sizes of any younger guests when you book.

Yes. All of our wake boats are equipped with marine-grade Bluetooth sound systems. Connect your phone and control the music from anywhere on the boat.

No experience required — for anyone in your group. Wakesurfing is genuinely one of the more learnable water sports, and our captains are experienced coaches who can get first-timers standing and riding within a session. If some of your group wants to surf and others just want to float on the island or tube, that works perfectly. The day is flexible around what everyone wants to do.

You'll meet your captain at the agreed launch point at your scheduled start time. After a quick safety briefing and getting everyone settled on the boat, you'll head out on the water. Most groups spend time cycling through wakesurfing, tubing, and time on the floating island — your captain will anchor in a protected cove for swimming and floating when you're ready for a break. The day moves at your pace. There's no rigid itinerary — you tell us what you want and we make it happen.

Yes — we love having families on the water. Kids tend to have an incredible time on the tubes and floating island. Make sure younger children have appropriately sized life jackets (we provide them, just let us know ages in advance). Children must always wear a life jacket while on or near the water.

For the closest and most convenient option, Lake Lewisville and Lake Grapevine are both excellent choices — both are within 30–40 minutes of most northern DFW suburbs. Lake Lewisville is larger with more open water; Grapevine is slightly more scenic and sheltered. Either is a great call for a same-day charter from the metroplex.

All of our lakes produce excellent wakes with our fleet. For sheer water quality and scenery, Possum Kingdom Lake and Broken Bow Lake stand out — both have clear, deep water and less boat traffic than the DFW-adjacent lakes, which means glassier conditions and cleaner wakes. For pure convenience from DFW, Lake Lewisville is hard to beat.

Lake Lewisville and Lake Grapevine are the most popular for same-day celebrations thanks to their proximity to DFW. Possum Kingdom Lake and Lake Texoma are the go-to choices for groups making a weekend trip of it — pair the charter with a cabin or resort stay for the full experience.

Possum Kingdom Lake — it's not close. The limestone cliffs, winding canyon coves, and iconic Hell's Gate passage make PK Lake the most visually spectacular of all the lakes we operate on. Broken Bow Lake is a close second, with Ouachita Mountain forest coming down to crystal-clear water. For a day trip, neither requires an overnight stay, but both are more rewarding with one.

Your captain monitors weather closely leading up to your charter. If conditions are unsafe — lightning, high winds, severe storms — your captain will make the call to cancel and you'll receive a full refund. We do not cancel for light rain or overcast skies alone; many great charter days happen under clouds. The safety call is always made by the captain, not by the weather app.

Our captains work hard to make your day exceptional. Gratuity is not required but is genuinely appreciated — 15–20% is standard for a great charter experience and goes directly to your captain.

Yes — we're fully BYOB-friendly. Please bring cans or plastic bottles only — no glass on the boat. Drink responsibly; your captain's priority is everyone's safety.

Absolutely. Pack a cooler for the day — sandwiches, snacks, fruit, whatever your group enjoys. We don't allow any food with orange or red food coloring, leave the Cheetos and Dorritos at home.  Most charters are 3–6+ hours, so having real food makes a big difference in how the day feels.

When you book, we'll send you specific directions to your launch point along with the captain's contact information. Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled start time to get loaded up and be on the water right at your start time. Your charter time begins at the scheduled start, so arriving on time means more time on the water.

Our captains are experienced boaters with strong knowledge of the lakes they operate on. They're trained in on-water safety, familiar with local regulations, and capable of coaching wakesurfing for all skill levels. We take safety seriously — it's non-negotiable on every charter we run.

  • Swimwear and a change of clothes
  • Sunscreen (apply before you arrive — sunburn happens fast on the water)
  • Sunglasses with a strap or retainer so they don't end up in the lake
  • A hat or cap for sun protection
  • Water and non-alcoholic drinks to stay hydrated
  • Food and snacks for the day
  • Towels for everyone in your group

If we haven't answered what you're looking for, we're always happy to talk through it directly.
